TOPOGRAPHY, VEGETATION AND CLIMATE
Topography is variable with rolling hills giving way to steep valleys and river flats.
Vegetation consists of four biomes, from open grassland to valley thicket, Karroid scrub and acacia thicket allowing for a large variety of animal species.
The climate is hot in Summer (15 to 40 degrees Celsius) and warm in Winter with cool evenings (2 to 25 degrees Celsius). Rainfall is approximately 470mm per annum, falling mainly between October and March.
Depending on the timing and season of your hunt, we generally recommend that a variety of warmer and cooler hunting clothing/camouflaged clothing be packed – our weather can be variable throughout the different seasons. Hunting/hiking boots should be comfortable (with preferred socks), trainers/running shoes (in case of blisters), sweater/warm jackets/soft shell fleece’s, swim suit in case of hot days, Cap or wide–brimmed hat that is a dark colour, and preferred casual clothes.
We provide for other activities for both hunters and observers on request such as: Game drives, night drives, fishing, historical tours, tours in and around Cape Town and golf. Please request a quote when booking.
RIFLE AND HUNTING BOWS IMPORTS
Generally, rifle imports are not a problem – discuss this with us when booking your hunting safari as we have a liaison at the OR Tambo international Airport who will assist you with the checking in of your firearm or hunting bow. We do have rifles for hire should you not wish to travel with your own firearm.
Should you be wanting to hunt with a form of bow please bring your own as they are custom to each individual hunter.
We have a great relationship with Splitting Image Taxidermy who are locally based and experienced taxidermy specialising in African animals. We will do the field preparation of your trophies and arrange for them to be delivered to the taxidermist.
